Tried to write a song for the very first time..........., not sure how well I did but I tried

Down To The River

I found him sitting on the Canyon's edge
his eyes were dripping blue from the reflection of the sky
and his feet were swinging above the depths of time

he looked up into my sea of green
and we cried

down to the river our tears fell away
down to the river and floated on breakers
down to the river in dreams of non existant yesterday

and as he reached up for my hand
I wished I was seventeen again
pure and smooth and sweet
with everything still in front of me to discover
my wings not clipped yet and my soul still free

but he didn't seem to notice
so I took his hand in mine
there was a moment of cold
and then the heat rose from the core

down by the river in the crevass of making
down by the river where the sand is ancient and white
down by the river where I wanted to die

and when he smiled the sun burned my flesh
and I knew I could disappear in that moment content
intimate strangers
standing on the ledge

no words were spoken
only images shared
of a lifetime ago, and we knew in that moment
we were not meant for this time

and we went down to the river
yes we flew down together
we fell down to the river
we knew we had to try.

Thanks for the invitation. I look forward to reading and posting some poetry here...once I learn how to do it. Is there anything I need to know? I'd hate to make some basic Newb mistakes...know what I mean? Anyway, thanks again. Kevin
